Turtle Shark

Ballpoint Pen, Acrylic Paint, Pencil

We are all planets! Transforming the concept of spirit animal into spirit planet, here we have two unlikely travelers meeting in the see of space. Originally a doodle that I was drawn to again and again, adding more detail until it became a full piece. What’s your spirit animal planet?

The Delirious Angel Brain Smiles (2016)

DABS

Water Color and Pastel Marker

Mr. Bug Brain Fishtank. I had the image of a glass skull used as a fish bowl swimming around my head, so I decided to go in and make it. There’s not much of a message here, just a concept executed.

Silence (2017)

Silence

Pastel Marker, Water Color, Colored Pencil, Pen

A gift for a friend who loves loud, colorful music. I wanted to celebrate that love, yet open the door to the beauty of silence as well.

A 2017 portrait of indie rock goon Mac Demarco made for my brother’s birthday that coincided with his album release of “This Old Dog”.

Whole (2017)

Whole

Water Color, Pastel Marker, Pencil

After struggling with a bout of depression, identity crises, and existential dread, I was at one of my favorite nature retreats, watching the water pass. A surreal, beautiful happening occurred, where the bright afternoon sun transformed the water into a white mirror. Yet, in the shadow of the tree, you could still see through the surface to the rocks below. This resonated with me, so I rushed home to illustrate the image.

A tree grown from pebbles in the shade, let all of your worries wash away.

Be Free, Friends (2017)

Be Free, Friends!

Guoache, pen, pencil

Made in a single sitting at a midnight painting session with my friendo @cabeggs_art.

An exercise in the creative process. Approach you canvas without fear, start small and imaginative- let no idea go untested. In fact, let them grow and absorb each other, strive to create a harmony, space, and intrigue. I ended up giving this as a Christmas gift to my mom.

Thanks for viewing all! Feel free to check out more of my work at my blog.
