So you may not know, but I got into video production and film making though Virginia Tech’s now deceased sketch comedy club, aptly named The Sketch. We were a bunch of misfits with dreams of writing, directing, and acting, but plagued by an even stronger love of goofing off. In the last year of The Sketch’s run – Season 6 (which also correlates with my time there…. don’t think too much into that), I had the opportunity to write and direct four short sketches.
Now let me preface, these sketches were my directorial debuts and consist of pure lunacy of questionable quality, but they were a blast to make!

Captain Swag Saves the Hacky Sack Club
Loosely based on real life, the dwindling Hacky Sack club begins it’s third year at Tech, painfully aware Hacky Sack’s lack of popularity. (I may or may not have been the President of of VT’s Hacky Sack Club). Driven by their love of the game, these sackers call Captain Swag as a last ditch effort to reinvent their image and draw new members out of the dorms. Wow! This was actually the first video I ever made!

The 47th Annual Chess Masters Championship (begins @ 5:02)
It’s that time of the year again, The Chess Masters Championship brings out the greatest chess players from around the world to battle it out for supreme supremacy. This years champions meet in the grand finals for a rowdy, over the top duel. This is too stupid I don’t even know with this one, but here it is…

The greatest, most highly respect music talent show returns this year with some incredible performances. Careers are made here and the three judges will the decide the fate of these determined artists.
This is my magnum opus of sketch comedy. The whole team came together and gave it their all for this one and I think it shines.

Black Friday Battle
Ahh, the day after Thanksgiving. We move as a people a day of familial celebration and good-natured wholeness to a day of cut throat violence and capitalism. Let us come together and celebrate with a Barry, a proud new father who sets out into the war zone that is Best Buy to get his family an affordable new TV.
